Reading requires efficient visual abilities. The eyes must team precisely, focus
clearly, and track quickly and accurately across the page. Inefficient or poorly
developed vision requires individuals to divide their attention between this
task and the involved visual abilities. Some individuals have symptoms such as
headaches, fatigue, eyestrain, errors, loss of place, and difficulty sustaining
attention. Others may display the following:
|
- Delays in school performance
- Frustrated easily
- Slow information processing
- Slow reading speed or comprehension
- Poor handwriting
- Loss of place during reading
- Re-reading or skipping lines
- Poor organizational skills
If your child, or an adult member of your family (maybe even you) suffers from these symptoms when reading, and may have been diagnosed with ADD or Dyslexia, the cause may be the Vision-Brain Conflict. Avoidance of visual tasks, such as reading, can sometimes be interpreted as ADD. Reading problems can usually be overcome in six months with Dr. Stendig’s Vision Therapy Program done at home.
